The 2024 National Press Festival honors the creative labor of journalists
17/03/2024TN&MTUnder the theme "Vietnamese Press - Pioneering, Innovation for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and the People”, the 2024 National Press Festival, for the first time held in Ho Chi Minh City, not only highlighted the professionalism and modernity of the press but also honored the diligent and creative achievements of journalists towards the revolutionary press of Vietnam.

In 2016, the Spring Press Festival, previously held every five years, was renamed the National Press Festival, which became an annual event organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association. This event has gradually become a cultural highlight of the journalism community with each New Year celebration. It is also an occasion to honor significant achievements and strong development, as well as the spirit of innovation, determination, and high sense of responsibility of Vietnam's press in educating and upholding traditional values. It fosters a sense of pride and self-esteem in the 99-year history of revolutionary journalism, igniting the aspirations for creativity, and dedication among journalists and association members. Additionally, it encourages the substantial contributions of individuals, organizations, and businesses to the revolutionary press cause in Vietnam.

This year, the press festival adopted a new organizational approach, featuring a diverse range of engaging activities that have brought together over 600 central and local press agencies, along with Vietnam Journalists Association chapters from all 63 provinces and cities nationwide, participating in showcasing and introducing media products.
More than 120 distinctive press exhibition was set up, showcasing newspapers and magazines ranging from popular to specialized ones, from major journalism training institutions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, promoting various aspects of life, economy, politics, culture, society, national defense, security, and foreign affairs.
Among them, there were 08 special exhibition booths of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television (VTV), Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Vietnam News Agency (VNA), the Military Press section, the Police Press section, the Vietnam Government Portal, the Office of the National Assembly Portal.... Additionally, there is also a section dedicated to showcasing the history of Vietnam's journalism.

A highlight of the event was the National Press Forum, featuring large-scale professional activities, attracting over 60 veteran journalists, leaders of leading press agencies in Vietnam and international media experts.
The forum also featured numerous in-depth discussions on ideological orientation, professional ethics, and enhancing the journalistic culture for media practitioners, including topics such as "Building a journalistic cultural environment" and "Enhancing the Party's orientation in journalism activities".
Specifically, the two-day 2024 National Press Forum hosted 12 sessions, including 10 discussions on various innovative and compelling issues currently of great interest in journalism, including "Press and strategies for outstanding content"; "Investment, effective application of technology in newsrooms"; "Dynamic radio broadcasting in the digital environment"; "Intellectual property rights of television works in the AI world"; "Protecting press copyrights in the digital environment"; "Effective cooperation models between the press, businesses, and advertising agencies"; "Diversifying revenue sources for press agencies".
