Popular on dissemination of implementation of extended producer responsibility (epr) according to regulations the environmental protection law

TN&MTThe Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Office of the National EPR Council recently organized a "Conference on dissemination and training on the implementation of extended producer responsibility (EPR) according to regulations of the Law on Environmental Protection" in Danang City. The conference was attended by more than 100 delegates from agencies, organizations, associations, businesses and recycling and waste treatment units in the Central region and Central Highlands.

 

Overview of the conference

At the conference, representatives of the Department of Legal Affairs and the Office of EPR Council Office presented reports to share and introduce detailed regulations on EPR according to the regulations of the Law on Environmental Protection and documents detailing and guiding businesses to register, declare and report responsibility for recycling products and packages, and declare responsibility for collecting and treating waste, and answer questions from management agencies, organizations and businesses. At the same time, delegates attending the conference also discussed and shared solutions in classifying, collecting and treating waste into raw materials - alternative fuels to help reduce emissions during the production process.

Product and packaging recycling responsibility and waste treatment responsibility of producers and importers has been stipulated in the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 (Article 54, Article 55); Decree 08/2022/ND-CP dated January 10, 2022 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection (Chapter VI); Circular No. 02/2022/TT-BTNMT dated January 10, 2022 of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection (Article 78, Article 79).

Good implementation of extended producer responsibility (EPR) will be a driving force to promote the circular economy, promote the recycling industry and help countries including Vietnam soon achieve environmental and sustainable development goals in the future.
