The trees at the summit of Fansipan in Sa Pa are covered in a thick layer of ice and snow
From the night of January 4 to the morning of January 5, temperatures on the mountain fluctuated between -1°C and 0°C (30.2°F–32°F), causing moisture in the air to freeze. The resulting ice coated the wooden platform at the Fansipan summit, pathways, railings, as well as trees and grass at elevations above 3,000 meters (9,843 feet).
As of 8:30 a.m. on January 5, the ice remained thick, showing no signs of melting.
The winter spectacle has drawn crowds of tourists eager to witness the rare snow-covered landscape, reminiscent of European winters. However, visitors are advised to exercise caution as icy surfaces can be extremely slippery.
Weather forecasts indicate that temperatures on Fansipan will remain low in the coming days, with frost likely to persist in the mornings. This presents a unique opportunity for travelers to experience the mountain’s breathtaking winter scenery.
