TN&MTOn July 2, 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in establishing an eco-industrial park project between the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the South Korean Ministry of Environment, represented by Minister Dang Quoc Khanh and Minister Han Wha-jin.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in establishing an eco-industrial park project between the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the South Korean Ministry of Environment, represented by Minister Dang Quoc Khanh and Minister Han Wha-jin

The MoU outlines cooperation for establishing an eco-industrial park in Vietnam, enhancing collaboration in technology and investment, and fostering expertise exchange to promote a circular economy and develop a sustainable, modern recycling industry guided by principles of equality, mutual benefit, and the achievement of the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

The cooperation also aims to build an eco-industrial park in Vietnam to promote the recycling industry and circular economy through investment, technology exchange, promotion of renewable energy use, and improvement of welfare for workers in the recycling industry, contributing to sustainable development and achieving environmental objectives.

The signing of the MoU aligns with the Party and State’s policies on international integration and cooperation in the environmental sector. The cooperation detailed in the MoU will positively impact Vietnam's politics, foreign relations, defense, security, economy, and society, particularly aiding in the establishment and development of a sustainable, modern recycling industry, promoting green investment, and creating livelihoods and ensuring welfare for workers in the recycling sector. Additionally, the implementation of the MoU will help Vietnam address environmental issues, especially solid waste management.

This MoU concretizes the commitments of the high-level leaders of the two Governments, contributing to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea, fostering sectoral cooperation, particularly in the fields of environment, circular economy, and sustainable development. It realizes comprehensive cooperation commitments in the environmental sector and facilitates collaboration and sharing between the specialized agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the South Korean Ministry of Environment in areas of mutual interest.

They also observed the signing of memoranda of understanding by the specialized agencies of both ministries
