
Vietnam and China expand collaboration in mineral exploration and technology

The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to deepening their collaboration in mineral exploration and mining technology, with a focus on sustainability and environmental protection.

Advancing technology and expertise in mineral resource management
During the discussions, Secretary-General Li Xiudan emphasized the long-standing cooperation between China and ASEAN in the mining sector, highlighting the success of 11 previous conferences and over 1,700 joint projects. He proposed several key initiatives to enhance Vietnam-China cooperation, including the exchange of geological data, the application of modern remote sensing technologies, and the development of specialized training programs for mining professionals.
One of the primary topics addressed was the expansion of geological surveys and hydrological assessments. China expressed its willingness to share advanced expertise in geological and environmental monitoring, particularly in the areas of hydrogeology and environmental impact studies. These efforts aim to improve the efficiency of mineral extraction while ensuring environmental sustainability.
China also introduced its latest advancements in remote sensing technology, which have been successfully implemented in natural resource management. With a vast database of satellite imagery and high-precision analytical tools, China proposed supporting Vietnam in utilizing these technologies to enhance mineral exploration and optimize resource management.
Future outlook and cooperation framework
Both sides agreed on the importance of developing human resources through specialized training programs. China offered to facilitate technology transfer by involving its leading universities, research institutes, and experts in training Vietnamese professionals in modern mining techniques. This initiative is expected to strengthen Vietnam’s capacity in managing mineral resources efficiently and sustainably.

This strengthened partnership is expected to bring significant advancements in mineral exploration, sustainable resource management, and environmental conservation in the region.
