Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Dang Quoc Khanh, delivered remarks during the meeting

In the process of innovation, nation-building, and safeguarding; the Vietnamese revolutionary press has overcome many difficulties and challenges, constantly growing both in quantity and quality. Over time, the press has effectively played the role of a bridge between the Party, the State, the Government, and the people. It has become a vital force, holding an essential role in the ideological and cultural front, contributing significantly to the Party's revolutionary cause, the nation's construction and defense, and providing vital information to society.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is a governmental agency that oversees nine complex and sensitive areas, directly related to the rights and interests of the people, businesses, and organizations. These areas have a significant impact on national security and defense, economic and social development, and the country's sustainable development.

"The articles related to the natural resources and environment field should aim for more extensive and powerful dissemination so that information about the industry reaches a wide audience, both domestically and internationally.

In the process of drafting legal documents, the Ministry is actively and urgently working on important draft laws, such as amendments to the Land Law, amendments to the Water Resources Law, the Geology and Minerals Law, and more. The Minister hopes that all journalists, reporters, and editors covering the field of natural resources and the environment will focus their dedication on disseminating information about these areas to the readers. He stressed that media agencies should pay attention to ensuring that the majority of their publications cover the areas that the Ministry manages.

"I hope that every article, every news report, every image, and every media product must convey positive and humane values, contribute to building trust and consensus in society, and contribute to the sustainable development of the country"; "All of us strive for a common goal, which is the national interest, and above all, the interest of the people." Minister Dang Quoc Khanh emphasized.

Minister Dang Quoc Khanh and Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh took photos with journalists, reporters, and Natural Resources and Environment Magazine editors.

According to the Minister, every journalist, reporter, and editor should be united, and take the lead in discovering and promoting new elements, advanced examples, good people, and good deeds to provide motivation, inspiration, and strong influence in the community and society regarding the natural resources and environment field. Additionally, journalists and reporters should focus on identifying hot, sensitive issues and areas of concern in public opinion, not avoiding but addressing challenging issues head-on. They should provide vivid, objective, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive reflections and find effective solutions to resolve each problem.

To fulfill their political mission, every journalist must grasp, understand, and thoroughly analyze each issue. The Minister suggested that media agencies establish specialized teams, groups of specialized reporters, who specialize in various fields within the Ministry. These teams would focus on creating high-quality specialized topics and deepening the theoretical aspects of scientific articles, which can serve as reference materials and convey the messages of the Ministry to a wide readership. Through these articles, the Ministry's leadership and the leadership of its affiliated units will promptly capture information to improve policies and laws, ultimately serving organizations, localities, businesses, and the people to the best of their abilities.

In the international integration process, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has been continuously supported and promoted under the direction of the Government. In November 2021, at the COP26 conference, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chinh pledged that Vietnam would strive to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This commitment has garnered significant attention from countries and international organizations worldwide, who have supported the Vietnamese Government in fulfilling these commitments.

As the key government agency responsible for implementing these commitments, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh believes that media agencies and outlets should promptly establish English-language sections on their websites, including additional English-language sections in print newspapers. This would help convey information that the world is currently highly interested in, such as climate change, environmental protection, and renewable energy. These are authentic sources of information that will allow the international community to understand Vietnam's commitment and implementation of the promises made at COP26 and COP27.

"The 9 state management fields of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment are directly related to the lives of the people and businesses. These are endless topics that the media agencies of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment can explore, innovate, and develop in line with their principles and objectives.

When working with localities and grassroots levels, reporters and editors must master information and have a deep understanding of the sectors they are covering. They should engage in discussions with specialized leaders and scientists to establish channels for providing information to help the Ministry's leadership capture proposals, suggestions, and feedback within the industry and in the sectors managed by the Ministry.

Minister Dang Quoc Khanh stressed that, besides fulfilling their professional duties, each journalist should invest in and prioritize their role in Party building: " In place where the Party is well-organized and Party building is consistently emphasized, all political and professional tasks are completed at a high level. If we only focus on professional aspects without regular attention to Party building, our organization may struggle to maintain comprehensive strength."

During the meeting, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh also suggested that the Ministry's Office and specialized agencies provide more timely information to the media. This information serves as an official, reliable source of high-quality, accurate information regarding the natural resources and environment sector, which is of significant interest to a wide readership.

The Minister believes that with the revolutionary tradition of the Vietnamese media and the goodwill of readers, journalists, reporters, and editors in the natural resources and environment field will dedicate themselves fully. They will utilize their roles and positions to fulfill their assigned tasks, producing a growing number of high-quality journalistic works that deserve the trust of the Party, the State, and the love of the people, both for the press in general and the natural resources and environment media in particular.

PROPOSAL TO LAUNCH AN ENGLISH-LANGUAGE SECTION

The Editor-in-Chief of the Natural Resources and Environment Magazine, Mr. Dao Xuan Hung, expressed his deep appreciation for the special attention given by Minister Dang Quoc Khanh, Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh, as well as the Party Central Committee members and the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) throughout various periods. This recognition extends to the leadership of MONRE's subordinate units and the collective efforts of reporters, editors, officials, and laborers of the magazine over the past 20 years of establishment and development.

Editor-in-Chief Dao Xuan Hung briefly introduced the formation and development process of the magazine. The Natural Resources and Environment Magazine, a theoretical, political, scientific, and professional agency under MONRE, was first published in October 2003, initially as a monthly publication and later transitioning to a bi-monthly format. In 2021, under the close and diligent guidance of Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh, the electronic version of the magazine was launched.

To date, the electronic version of the Natural Resources and Environment Magazine has successfully attracted a diverse readership, serving as a valuable source of information on natural resources and the environment for government officials, scientists, experts, scholars, and policy-makers. The magazine publishes in-depth research and comprehensive analyses of various topics from diverse perspectives.

Benefiting from the support and attention of MONRE's leadership, the magazine has consistently fulfilled its political mission. However, to ensure further development in the coming years, additional resources from MONRE are needed. Editor-in-Chief Dao Xuan Hung proposes and hopes to receive the close attention of MONRE's leadership for the publication of a specialized English-language section within the Natural Resources and Environment Magazine. This section will serve as an information and communication channel to promote MONRE's achievements, as well as the outcomes of scientific research, to the international community.

At present, the magazine is in discussions with MONRE's leadership regarding potential collaboration with the Gyeongnam Maeil newspaper from South Korea, aiming to share South Korea's environmental protection experiences. Through this collaboration, the two parties can exchange professional expertise, journalistic know-how, and information on environmental protection initiatives, and sustainable development practices.

AFFIRMING POSITION AND CREDIBILITY IN THE VIETNAMESE REVOLUTIONARY PRESS

Mr. Hoang Manh Ha, Editor-in-Chief of the Natural Resources and Environment newspaper, could not hide his emotions on June 21st this year, as the media and communication departments of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) received a visit from Minister Dang Quoc Khanh, Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh, and the leadership of MONRE's subordinate units who came to extend their congratulations.

The Natural Resources and Environment newspaper published its inaugural issue on February 3, 2005, making it one of the first newspapers within ministries and departments to receive substantial attention and investment for its operations. Over the years, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Natural Resources and Environment newspaper, like many other media agencies, faced numerous challenges. However, with a spirit of unity, consensus, mutual encouragement, and creativity, and under the guidance and care of MONRE's leadership, the newspaper, though not yet highly profitable, has achieved stability and ensured full benefits for its laborers.

Additionally, the Natural Resources and Environment newspaper takes pride in receiving orders of trust from other ministries and agencies, including the National Ethnic Council, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs. The Editor-in-Chief of the Natural Resources and Environment newspaper believes that this is a highly positive sign, all due to the reputation of the ministry's leadership and the relentless efforts of the newspaper's staff and employees.

Together with the Natural Resources and Environment Magazine and the Communication Center, the Natural Resources and Environment newspaper has established various groups and clubs that focus on monitoring environmental issues, such as the Net Zero Press Club. The Natural Resources and Environment newspaper hopes to garner the attention of MONRE to continue inheriting the achievements, addressing existing limitations, and achieving sustainable development, thereby asserting its position and credibility in the Vietnamese revolutionary press.

BUILDING A STRONG COLLECTIVE, EXCELLING IN ASSIGNED TASKS

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Communication Center of MONRE, revealed that the center has been entrusted with several core activities, such as policy communication, maintaining a network of collaborators, and propagating the policies and laws of the natural resources and environment sector across the nation. Currently, the center, along with the Legal Affairs Department, organizes policy dissemination events in various localities.

In addition, the center is responsible for organizing environmental events, such as World Environment Day, World Meteorological Day, and Biodiversity Day, and serves as a liaison between local media and communication agencies to carry out MONRE's communication activities.

Furthermore, the center collaborates in various other activities such as environmental education, climate change adaptation, and natural resource management. It acts as a hub connecting the activities of political and social organizations.

Director Nguyen Viet Dung affirmed that, with the trust and attention of the ministry's leadership, the collective at the Communication Center has harnessed the spirit of unity, building a strong collective, and striving to fulfill its assigned political tasks effectively.
